Job Overview:
Under the general direction of the Charge EEG Technologist, and in accordance with national EEG standards (CAET), the incumbent is responsible for performing standard EEG recordings, sleep recordings and portable EEG recordings on both pediatric and adult patients, ensuring a high quality and standard of work. Also performs more complicated recordings such as long-term monitoring of seizure patients, pre-operative surgery studies and serial studies on various neurological disorders. Assists in the preparation of the patients for neurosurgical procedures when EEG monitoring is required.
What you’ll have:
- Registered as an Electroencephalography Technologist (RET) with the Canadian Board of Registered EEG Technologists (CBRET) or an equivalent registration as recognized by the Centre. Those with international qualifications will be required to become certified by the Canadian Board of Registered EEG Technologists (CBRET) within a stipulated time frame.
- Cross training and registration in nerve conduction studies an asset, with formal training in EMG (Electromyography) preferred. Participation in Employer provided EMG training may be required.
- University courses completed preferred and successful completion of a recognized EEG Training Program required.
- 2 years’ experience performing standard EEG’s.
- Must be able to manage independently triaging of requested EEG tests and be capable of performing and monitoring a number of EEG tests as part of after-hours/on call service.
