Position Summary:
The Warehouse Assistant provides expertise in the inspection and acceptance of incoming goods and materials, maintenance and optimization of appropriate levels of critical spares and stock, proper labeling, storage, and preservation of materials on hand, accountable for precise record-keeping of material quantities and descriptions whether stock or in-transit, and cycle counting, and physical to record reconciliation as required by corporate standards. Must ensure that materials are unloaded, stored, loaded, and moved safely.
Key Responsibilities:
- Actively engage operators, ensuring that they are following established procedures
- Monitor for safe and unsafe issues, leaks, spills, housekeeping, wearing PPE.
- Ensure daily housekeeping duties are performed.
- Issue and manage permits/work orders (Hot Work, Confined Space Entry, etc.).
- Ensure Special Instructions are understood, followed and completed.
- Coach, develop and challenge warehouseman to their full potential.
- Ensure daily safety and spill checks are performed correctly, signed and documented.
- Help crew members troubleshoot warehouse operations and or equipment problems.
- Promote safety and role model the key operational tenets.
- Review operator experience level to determine if assistance is needed while performing work activity.
- Support trainees’ learning of new tasks as part of their training program.
- Assign all work necessary to ensure customer orders are picked and loaded onto trucks in support of meeting a minimum 97% OTIF requirement.
- Load trucks, pick product, offload trucks, operate palletizers, and conduct general warehouse work as necessary.
- Initiate/participate in Incident Investigations.
- Understand/communicate problems and work with all stakeholders (both internal and external to Chevron ), to develop corrective actions.
- Prepare, deliver, and receive Turnover (beginning & end of shift).
Required Education & Experience:
- Safety Sensitive Position.
- Required Qualifications High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Ability to recognize risk inherent in warehousing and administrative activity and act to ensure loss free operations.
- Ability to work any shift as required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of safe work practices.
