Position Summary:
These positions are located in Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Temporary, Not to Exceed: 1039 Hours.

Key Responsibilities:
Incumbent provides public orientation and explanations of current park events, resource
management projects, management policies and legislative updates on issues affecting the natural, historical and/or cultural preservation of the area.
Incumbent is knowledgeable about a variety of resource-oriented topics and continues to keep this knowledge current by attending training and meetings. Incumbent explains the significance of the area’s natural, cultural and/or historic resources, advises visitors of park regulations and explains importance of such to protection of the area, resources, and/or safety of visitors. Incumbent serves as a deterrent to infractions of park resource regulations by his/her presence and willingness to initiate resource-related conversation with visitors.
Incumbent conducts informal talks and/or discussions with groups of visitors to stimulate a sense of appreciation for, encourage protection and preservation of, and gain support for management decisions concerning the park’s resources. Performs backcountry patrols to familiarize self with the areas resources and to provide information, guidance and services.
Providing Information and Guidance
As a uniformed employee of the National Park Service (NPS), the incumbent serves as a front line representative of the park and the agency, typically performing duties at a visitor center, campground, other visitor contact stations, or roving locations throughout the park
Visitor Information Services/Park Program Support
Incumbent provides a wide range of services to visitors such as assisting those who have lost
personal items. Incumbent provides support to interpretive and other program personnel such as assisting with special event setup and take down; assisting in setting up museum exhibits; serving as a member of task and event-oriented teams; introducing programs presented by interpretive staff members; operating and maintaining audio-visual equipment; posting information at campgrounds, visitor centers and other locations; providing assistance and support to protection personnel (such as traffic and/or crowd control at park entrance stations and/or related locations.
Required Education & Experience:
- Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
- Successful completion of at least four years of education above high school (120 semester hours or 180 quarter hours) leading to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. IMPORTANT – PLEASE NOTE: If you are using education to qualify you must document your course work and/or degree completed in your resume or other application materials you submit. You must submit a copy of your transcripts or a complete list of college courses taken that identifies for each course the college or university, semester or quarter hours earned, grade received, and date completed. If you are qualifying based on education and you do not submit specific course work information as described previously, your application will be rated not qualified for consideration. (A copy of your official transcripts will be required before entrance on duty, if selected).
