Position Summary:
The Unit Support Assistant (USA) performs moderately complex (journey-level) social service or case management, administrative support and technical program assistance duties utilizing the ReHabWorks system and other Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) automated resources. Work involves collecting, preparing, and reviewing cases to facilitate access to medical, educational, social, and other services; and providing intervention and frequent contact with individuals, facilities, and service providers. May train others. Works under general supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and judgment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safeguards confidential information.
- Works as a member of the office team to foster safety and security of office staff, customers and property at the work place.
- Develops and maintains tracking systems.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
- Responds to customer referral sources and provider inquiries.
- Coordinates performance appraisal systems for the VR Manager.
- Assists in researching and analyzing statistical data.
- Provides mentoring.
- Provides support to the VR Manager as well as the Unit Support Coordinator’s small caseload and the Unit support team.
Required Education & Experience:
- Experience in applying purchasing procedures.
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in human services, social science, business, or a related field plus two years of full-time qualifying experience in social and rehabilitative services work, teaching and counseling persons with disabilities, social services, medical eligibility, or entitlement programs;
- Eighteen (18) months experience in office practices and office support work using a personal computer in a Windows based environment.
