Job Overview:
Working in the rheumatology program, at the Schroeder Arthritis Institute, the successful candidate will pursue translational pre-clinical and human studies in the field of spondylarthritis. Spondyloarthritis is a chronic inflammatory arthritis that affects 1% of Canadians. The spondylitis program at UHN is one of the largest research programs in this field with a large prospective patient database, prospectively followed cohorts and sequentially bio banked samples. The Krembil Research Institute is a state-of-the-art facility with a fully equipped animal facility, advanced microscopy, single cell sequencing, metabolomics, bioinformatics and medicinal chemistry for novel drug discovery. Although this is a temporary posting, it could become a permanent position, depending on funding availability.
What you’ll have:
- Excellent documentation skills
- Experience with animal models: maintaining colonies, genotyping, transgenic models, intra peritoneal injections, and obtaining tissues for studies.
- Extensive background in cell culture, including adherent and suspension cell cultures
- Basic molecular biology skills, including PCR, ELISA, and blotting
- Self-motivated with strong organizational skills
- Minimum 3 years related experience
- BSc in Immunology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics or equivalent; MSc preferred
- Excellent knowledge of flow cytometry, including development of new protocols for cell staining and characterization. Cell sorting experience is an advantage.
