Job Overview:
The Training Officer provides individual contributor support to the training function in the area of e-learning development and support, technical support, training project management, and train-the-trainer.
What you’ll do:
- Interface with vendors for learning IT systems.
- Develop and maintain course materials to support training delivery and development staff, and other courses as required.
- Act as a technical resource and provide guidance to various department staff members regarding learning and performance technology.
- Provide project management support to training development projects. This will include scope and develop plans and schedules for assigned projects to a level appropriate to the specific assignment, monitor project progress and report to customer, manage changes to project scope, resources and schedule, provide training technology advice and support to project team members consistent with approved processes and work practices.
- Create and maintain reports to support continuous training process improvement.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Maintain the training department website.
- Administer and control access to SABA, Bruce Power’s Learning Management System.
- Lead and participate in performance improvement projects.
- Monitor health of the CBT framework, interface with users, support team, and IT to provide advice and troubleshoot framework and course problems, document bugs or proposed changes, recommend change priorities, plan changes to framework or courses, and manage development/implementation of framework changes and course changes.
- Manage specialized equipment to support the delivery of training.
- Maintain current expertise in training processes.
- Run standard reports as required by the Training Manager.
- Deliver or support the delivery of trainer continuing training courses as required.
What you’ll have:
- A team player, who can interrelate and operate effectively with peers and other associates.
- Ability to utilize Vision (Focused Learning Software) is an asset.
- Ability to manage key stakeholder interests while managing conflicting priorities and business interests.
- This knowledge is normally considered to be gained through the completion a four (4) year University Degree in a related field.
- Understands a customer centric approach is key to success.
- Ability to utilize standard software tools (e.g MS office applications) to support business needs.
- Requires experience in the preparation of governing documents and developing and maintaining documents of training courses and material for staff to present to technical personnel.
- Sound ability in the English language, both oral and written, to communicate with others as well as developing and maintaining governance and course material.
- Requires knowledge to prepare documentation, defining training processes, assessments and maintaining governing documents.
- Ability to develop, maintain and implement training policies, procedures and programs
- A period of over 6 years and up to and including 8 years is considered necessary to gain this experience.
- Ability to influence others positively to achieve corporate goals within a collegial, yet demanding and complex work environment.
- Experience with SABA, Adobe Captivate and MS Stream is considered an asset.
- Ability to analyze, design and document training processes which optimize performance and resource utilization.
