Position Summary:

GIS Support Analyst on the ITC Upstream Applications Geospatial Information (GIS) System Team. The GIS Team is responsible for overall delivery of GIS services to the business units and across all the business functions and enables the vision and strategy of the GIS Discipline for Chevron by providing reliable and cost competitive GIS platforms, services and business enabling solutions. The GIS Support Analyst Position requires analytical and critical thinking skills and experience with GIS Technologies (ArcGIS Server/Enterprise, ArcGIS Pro).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate GIS Application support and lifecycle management for the GIS Team’s supported desktop applications: ESRI ArcGIS suite of (17) applications, Safe Software FME, Blue Marble software.
  • Work as a member of the GIS Team to provide GIS users with technical support and consulting in the use and application of Esri GIS applications.
  • Work with ETC to establish a robust GIS license management reporting process and dashboard to help the GIS Manager understand what licenses are being used across the enterprise to support compliance with our contract limits.
  • Coordinate Software Testing and Deployment – Pilot new GIS software, upgrade current software and extensions for deployment.
  • Develop test cases, conduct user acceptance testing for supported applications. Develop reports for tracking user usage of all applications.
  • Apply Chevron architecture, application management, and information management standards, policies and procedures to applications.
  • Ensure that expected application and data quality levels are achieved.
  • Coordinate License Management activities by working with License administrators across Chevron to make sure our applications are licensed and are in compliance. Coordinate the license procurement process, license denials, working on user issues registering and installing licenses.
  • Comply with information Protection policies and with Change, Incident, and Release Management Processes.
  • Work with run and maintain managed service provider, and the desktop packaging team to manage the lifecycle of our GIS Desktop applications ensuring that new versions are successfully tested and packaged for distribution on the Gil Options Panel.
  • Work with GIS Technical Lead to establish our GIS Map Hub Cloud Migration Strategy and drive the movement of the GIS Platform to the Azure Cloud and lead coordination of cloud migration for Asia Pac region.
  • Coordinate management of our ESRI vendor portal supporting licensing, eLearning and software with Wipro our Managed Service Provider and who can contact Esri Support.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science or other IT support related discipline
  • Knowledge of GIS data analysis & interpretation, knowledge of cartographic design & production
  • Experience with providing Environment Support & Desktop application testing and packaging for Esri ArcGIS Server/Enterprise and ArcGIS desktop applications
  • Understanding of Microsoft Azure Cloud and Safe Agile Framework
  • Over a year of demonstrated experience as an GIS Support Analyst using Esri ArcGIS technologies in general, and with ArcGIS Desktop or ArcGIS Pro in particular
  • Experience with scripting or ability to write queries in Python, SQL or Excel, Safe Software’s FME product and with Esri’s Portal for ArcGIS and Web AppBuilder is a plus
  • Proven ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies
  • Ideally can work non-standard shift hours to allow for overlap with US-Houston Based GIS team
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills, self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work and communicate tactfully and effectively with a range of internal users across Chevron and various external stakeholders.
