Position Summary:
The Supervisory Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist – CT, has the overall responsibility for coordination and performance of the CT section. The incumbent supervises technologists while working with radiologists, clinicians, and clerical staff to assure optimum quality control, efficient coordination of activities, high quality exam results, and patient satisfaction. In addition to supervisory technologist duties, the incumbent will operate independently as the supervisor responsible for the performance and coordination of all CT examinations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor work performance by contractors and in-house services, assuring satisfactory completeness.
- Participate in the education of CT technologists as well as other technologists through departmental in-services.
- Direct any reassignment of technologists necessary because of call-ins or increased/decreased workload.
- Coordinate leave requests to maintain optimal staffing levels.
- Actively engage staff in a minimum of 2 ongoing engagement projects throughout the year based on survey response.
- Coordinate repair and installation of CT equipment to ensure optimal patient access.
- Assist manufacturer and biomedical engineers in the calibration and troubleshooting of any malfunctions in all assigned equipment.
- Coordinate daily schedule and consults with other medical center physicians, clinical, administrative, and clerical personnel regarding availability for patient examinations.
- Track and maintain records of repair history and vendor performance.
- Interact with physicians, scientists, physicists, computer programmers, manufacturers, and technical design engineers on a recurring basis in the performance of daily assignments.
- Provide opportunity for staff to participate in department, division, and facility wide workgroups and committees.
- Responsible for the completion of competency checklists.
- Hold staff accountable for workload assignments.
- Encourage staff to participate in professional advancement activities.
- Perform technical and general operation and maintenance of computers, consoles, and imaging devices.
- Participate in developing service contract specifications.
- Participate in developing specifications for new equipment requests.
- Recommend, coordinate, and evaluate new or modified procedures/protocols.
- Develop and maintain a schedule for CT technologists to include fair and equitable call rotations.
- Recommend equipment improvements, repairs, and upgrades.
- Instruct technologists on specialized tasks and new/modified procedures and policies.
- Keep Chief Technologist or designee apprised of performance issues, absences, and tardiness issues.
- Serve as the liaison between Radiology and Biomedical Engineering and repair contractors.
- Report all deficiencies and needed repairs to supervisor or designee and Bio-Med.
- Organize staff work assignments, including lunch and break rotations.
- Develop and maintain a quality control program in conjunction with the Quality Technologist.
- Determine staffing requirements based on past, present, and future workload patterns and develop weekly and monthly schedules.
- Establish and monitor quality control programs for the section and maintain operation logs, service, and maintenance reports.
- Develop formal orientation, training, and evaluation programs.
Required Education & Experience:
- Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process.
