Position Summary:

The Regional Cargo Supervisor – Cargo Operations is responsible for facilitating performance discussions and influencing decision-making through building meaningful relationships with Division Regional Sales and Operations Leaders, Local Station and Cargo Operations and Sales Management, Vendor Leadership and Station Operations in the region. Provide the tools and support to the division Operations team to enable them to meet or exceed customer operational expectations, cargo operational goals, government regulatory guidelines, and security/safety guidelines. Support includes coaching, training, mentoring, providing transparency, accountability, prioritization, root cause and trend analysis, onsite support and communication. The position has responsibilities to drive continuous improvement of operational processes, cost control, reporting and metrics. Projects include station start- ups and transitions, technology implementation, training and audit implementation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the vendor and IT to ensure vendor has hardware, software and access to United proprietary system
  • Subrogation Cargo Claims and Fines to the accountable party
  • Maintain the station DRS Page to ensure it is up to date
  • Collaboration with the regulatory organizations including QA, IA, DG Safety, and Security to ensure that cargo process, policy and procedure and stations are in compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Partner with Corporate Real Estate, local staff, local airport authorities and building maintenance to manage the Cargo facilities
  • Influence performance via internal/external cross-functional teaming; facilitate and enable accountability/transparency/prioritization of cargo operational metrics to meet/exceed customer expectations; ensure regulatory, security, safety requirements met
  • Partner with Ground Equipment Maintenance and local staff to manage Cargo ground equipment
  • Participate in division operations projects focused on driving continuous improvement in the areas of warehouse processes, facility planning, vendor processes, metrics, station start- ups and transitions, technology implementation, training and audit implementation
  • Manage Cargo Supply inventory and ordering
  • Manage Road Feeder Service (RFS)
  • Partner with sales and operations in the field to determine root cause analysis (vendor and UA) of issues, trend analysis, region/station performance oversight, station visits
  • Manage ULD inventory and supplies
  • Assist in mitigating Cargo fines

Required Education & Experience:

  • May require working weekends, holidays, and/or shift work
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • High School Diploma, GED or education equivalent required
  • Safety orientation required
  • Accountability required
  • Connectivity skills and field operational leadership preferred
  • Travel requirement of 40%
  • Regular attendance and punctuality in accordance with United’s policies is required.
  • Knowledge of MS Office applications required
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or at least 5 years relevant work experience required
