Position Summary:
Provides Engineering support and expertise to the Southwest Technical Operations organization, including specialized aircraft, engine, and component repairs, modifications, and troubleshooting accomplished on the Southwest fleet.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in the development and substantiation of in-house repairs and modifications for implementation into the SWA maintenance program
- Participate in activities related to various types of cost/benefit analysis
- Develop Engineering documentation to support resolution of in-service issues
- Collaborate with other departments such as Planning, Supply Chain, Quality, Production and other Stakeholders for assigned projects to develop project implementation plans
- Participate in activities related to OEM, Supplemental Type Certificate Holder, and PMA products
- Evaluate and process manufacturers service documents (Service Bulletins, Service Letters, etc.) and regulatory requirements (Airworthiness Directives, Notice of Proposed Rule Making, Code of Federal Regulations, etc.)
- Participate in troubleshooting and resolution of in-service issues
- May perform other job duties as directed by Employees Leaders
Required Education & Experience:
- Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by start date to comply with Executive Order 14042, which requires employees of federal contractors to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology, including applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various airline support services
- Ability to communicate effectively via telephone as well as within group settings
- Required: High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
- Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
- Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
- Ability to collect, organize, visualize, and assimilate data, including turning raw data into meaningful information, using data-oriented programs and visualization software
- Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong, however it does not necessarily involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem
- Knowledge of design techniques and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, drawings, and models
- Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
- Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
- Ability to work well with scheduled timelines
- Skilled in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
