Position Summary:
The Senior Analyst Marketing Systems’ primary responsibility is supporting Southwest Airlines’ direct marketing campaigns, Customer research efforts, and technology and process implementations. This person serves as an expert in the Marketing department on the loyalty database, backend processes, and Southwest Airlines’ marketing campaigns, and also works closely with the Manager to ensure accountable delivery. The Senior Marketing Systems Analyst’s main activities include developing scripts and queries for database pulls, performing quality control on developed campaigns, developing process standards, and coaching more junior resources.
Key Responsibilities:
- Self-directed through ambiguous data exploration with ability to independently employ a wide range of mining and analysis methods
- Solution oriented; positively impacts the environment of his or her direct team and Marketing department
- Develops campaigns and queries for database pulls related to direct marketing, systems and business analysis, and ad-hoc requests
- Gathers data across platforms, creatively exploring alternate methods and ensuring data integrity
- May perform other job duties as directed by Employee’s Leaders.
- Coaches new and more junior resources on critical systems and core Marketing Systems Analyst responsibilities
- Performs quality control on campaigns and scripts to ensure accuracy
- Tells a compelling and relevant story that conveys well thought-out recommendations, explains complex concepts in a straightforward manner with actionable recommendations, and presents with poise and confidence
- Develops process standards to streamline campaign development and database query processes
- Works with leader to align on priorities, constructively address project work, and build personal development plans
- Supports collaboration with other Marketing teams to assess technology needs for enhanced Customer insight and personalization
- Is adaptable to evolving business needs and a changing environment
- Collaborates well with others, builds relationships with business owners, influences and takes consultative approaches as appropriate, drives forward and follows through against established timelines
- Is an expert on the loyalty database, backend processes, frequent flyer program, and promotional campaigns to support Southwest’s revenue, Customer Experience, and loyalty goals
- Synthesizes data to address the what, why, and how of business questions and business applications, knowing how to contribute to Marketing strategy
Required Education & Experience:
- At least 3 years experience with SQL required
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be able to coach junior analysts
- Experience with spreadsheets, databases, and database reporting tools required
- Possesses strong mathematical, analytical, and problem solving skills
- At least 3 years experience with Campaign Management tools required (examples: Adobe or IBM Campaign)
- Delivers quality work within a low-cost environment
- Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.
- Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines.
- Handles high volumes of work with ability to prioritize effectively and hit promised timelines
- Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines.
- Minimum 5 years experience in related field required
- Communicates effectively by listening intently, questioning appropriately, and articulating clearly in both written and verbal formats
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required. Degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field
- Strong Excel, PowerPoint and Word skills required
- Is a curious learner
- Familiarity with the airline industry and/or field of marketing preferred
- OR, minimum 3 years with advanced degree
- At least 2 year experience with Oracle or Teradata databases required
- Required – High School Diploma or GED
- Experience with UNIX preferred
