Position Summary:
The purpose of the Specialist Operational Planning role is to provide specialist support and leadership, oversee operational planning and implementation for Sishen Kumba Iron Ore while ensuring consistency with the Anglo Operating Model principles to drive sustainable business results.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure that planning processes are stable and executed in line with corporate requirements and planning timetables.
- Identify emerging trends and leverage industry best practices to establish benchmarks and continually enhance operational planning processes
- Feed lessons learned, and knowledge gained back to Business Improvement teams.
- Facilitate co-development of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and other metrics, with team leaders, to drive success in this space.
- Participate and contribute towards the establishment of a project plan, specifications, and resource requirements of the AAOM site implementation in order to complete broadly defined assignments and achieve desired results.
- Monitor activities and report weekly progress on key initiatives to internal and external stakeholders, as required.
- Ensure that the implementation processes adhere to quality standards by performing gap analysis and critical issue resolution.
- Assist in development of new solutions, tools and processes that will assist in performance measurement, reporting and visibility of issues
- Oversee development of the Operating Master Schedules including validating work packages in OMS, aligning on optimised OMS with discipline managers, and reviewing and validating OMS.
- Enable sustainability of AAOM Operational Planning
- Facilitate integrated implementation of the Operational Planning Module of AAOM
- Shape the culture of the team through action, presence, and reinforcement of behaviors
- Ensure efficient interactions across functional teams for any trends, drivers and takeaways in a clear and concise manner.
Required Education & Experience:
- At least 5 Years’ experience in Mining (preferably open pit), Processing or Engineering Industry
- Qualification/certification in the following would be advantageous: Lean, 6 Sigma and Project Management
- 1 Year supervisory experience
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Driver’s Licence (light vehicle)
- Project Management experience (advantageous)
- Experience in strategy implementation and business planning in business unit
- 2 Years’ relevant Business Improvement experience
- Valid South African Driver’s license
- Advanced computer Literacy (MS Office, Projects, Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Project Management experience will be advantageous
- Relevant Tertiary qualification – minimum of a B.Tech or Bachelor’s degree (mining, processing, industrial etc.) or equivalent
