Position Summary:

Provides expertise on social science knowledge and innovative practices, including data acquisition, mapping, application, and information visualization in support of a social science program with national scope

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures in a highly visible working environment, across organizational boundaries, and in settings of high innovation and change.
  • Coordinates with research program leaders, scientists, and staff directors at a national office level.
  • Promote the concepts of risk management and governance, human and organizational resilience, and organizational learning and change.
  • Develop strategies and assistance to national level programs and land management agency field units in the design, implementation, and evaluation of organizational learning, social science, and human performance activities.
  • Plan and organize research and application teams to resolve social science and natural resources issues that are highly controversial.
  • Coordinate planning and implementing programs of research, application and technical cooperation between public and private sectors.
  • Plan and coordinate land management agency or organization program cooperation including planning, budgeting, fiscal controls.
  • Responsibilities are listed at the full performance level (GS-13).
  • Establish, develop, and maintain effective working relationships with key partners requiring consultation with academia nationally and internationally

Required Education & Experience:

  • Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check.
