Job Overview:
The Senior Training Officer in Learning Management Systems will be primarily responsible for supervising staff, ensuring that the Learning and Performance program is in line with both internal and external standards as well as implementing improvements to ensure that the Learning and Performance program and governance are aligned with industry excellence.
The Senior Training Officer will also be required to organize and coordinate resources, develop project schedules, control costs in the production of programs, procedures, processes and systems and, act as a technical resource in the systematic approach to training.
What you’ll do:
- Supervises staff in use of job/task analyses techniques to gather information on which to make design decisions
- Attends meetings with managers, superintendents, supervisors, foremen and journeymen to explain new programs and designs
- Analyzes/supervises staff in analysis of performance problems to identify the specific skill deficiencies in staff populations
- Consults with clients to obtain agreement on the design and use of alternate forms of human performance improvement, ie. job aids, etc.
- Investigates, evaluates and implements improvements in human performance and training technology relative to program development activities (for example, conduct benchmarking to align with industry excellence)
- Communicates with line organization to promote acceptance of new programs
- Supervises staff engaged in the complete range of analysis, design and development activities, job analysis, performance problem analysis, task analysis, course development, lesson planning, development testing, commissioning
- Acts as a technical resource and provides functional guidance to various department staff members regarding training design technology
- Supervises the commissioning/implementation of new programs and incentives
- Designs/supervises design of performance criterion tests for various training/performance improvement programs
- Performs other duties as required
- Organizes and coordinates resources, develops project schedules and controls costs in the production of specialized programs and systems to address performance problems and training needs
- Liaises with line management and training delivery supervisors regarding human performance problems and training needs
- Makes strategic decisions as to the most effective and efficient ways of addressing performance problems and training needs
What you’ll have:
- Minimum of 8 years, up to and including 10 years of relevant work experience in a nuclear generating facility
- Ability to develop, maintain and implement training policies, procedures and programs.

- 4-year university degree in an appropriate field, or the equivalent
- Ability to analyze, design and document training processes which optimize performance and resource utilization
- Ability to communicate in writing in a clear, concise manner
- Strong analytical and technical skills to gather, interpret and report on data from various sources such as data warehouses and transactional systems
- Ability to evaluate training programs for effectiveness
