Job Overview:

The Indirect Tax Senior Specialist is subject matter expert responsible for indirect tax compliance and reporting obligations of ADNOC Global Trading and its international subsidiaries, reporting to the AGT VP Tax, with a tight collaboration with other supporting functions and Group. To support ADNOC Trading as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage VAT/GST correct determination, reconciliation and controls, system configuration.
  • Advise on an ad hoc basis on various taxation matters including indirect tax risks and opportunities, VAT, customs and excise advisory matters and related compliance and reporting obligations.
  • Review and advise on the commodity trading tax risk framework for AGT and affiliates.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits on indirect taxes.
  • Support preparation of all Department progress reports to provide accurate and timely information to AGT Management to effectively manage the business
  • Manage all indirect tax compliance obligations, in accordance with laws and regulations as well as Company and Group principles and policies, including VAT, Customs and Excise Duties.
  • Manage indirect tax payment deadlines, in accordance with law and Group requirements and policies.
  • Responsible for UAE and International indirect tax compliance, including VAT/GST, Customs and Excise duties.
  • Preparation of indirect tax reporting and filing for UAE and international subsidiaries (Singapore, Swiss, UK and US).
  • Communicate corporate business ethics and the Code of Conduct to employees within the Department and ensure compliance to the Corporate Policies and guidelines.
  • Contribute and support the establishment of a Tax Risk Management System within the Department, while identifying and assessing relevant domain risks and implementing measures to manage and mitigate all identified risks within the Department.
  • Prepare and maintain tax guidance and instructions to finance, trading operations and functional leaders to ensure a proactive tax risk management.
  • Monitor expenditure against approved Department budget on a regular basis; investigate, highlight and reconcile any significant variances to ensure effective performance and cost control.
  • Manage the implementation of the AGT Performance Management System for individuals within the Department in accordance with AGT approved guidelines.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Experience with setting up tax compliance and reporting processes and controls
  • Experience with international indirect taxation, application of trade and cooperation agreements
  • Knowledge of UAE/GCC and European VAT, Customs and Excise law and regulations (Singapore GST is a plus)
  • Self starter, organized, open communication, ability to deal with changes effectively.
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in international indirect tax, either in house or accounting firms (global trading industry is a clear plus)
  • Knowledge of Customs documentation requirements and trading and shipping international practices
  • Knowledge of tax laws of these Countries is a distinct advantage: Singapore, UK, Switzerland, U.S.
  • University degree in economics and/or fiscal law
