Position Summary:

The Sr. Finance Manager, Workforce Planning & Strategy will oversee the entire budgeting, forecasting, and reporting process enterprise wide for Workforce Planning & Strategy, both shipboard and shoreside. This includes but is not limited to leading international teams in Manila and Brazil on monthly reporting as well as ad-hoc analysis. This person will be seen as the Subject Matter Expert for all crew travel-related financial matters, for all external stakeholders, including Brand Finance, Workforce Planning & Strategy, Business Analytics, and Shared Services Executive Leadership. This person will play a crucial role in managing the forecasting and analysis of our Workforce Planning & Strategy team, including balancing aggressive savings targets, changing business environments and our evolving healthy return to service protocols. The Sr. Finance Manager must be in constant communication with the teams in Miami, Manila and Brazil in order to incorporate the ever-changing business environment into our financial models and projections.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversees preparation of month-end journal entries, including re-classes, accruals and prepaid entries, ensuring that all expense recording is in compliance with Sarbanes Oxley, accounting and other company policies
  • Acts as CAR Finance Manager for upcoming process improvement CAR, responsible for capital planning and forecasting, including project implementation and identification of efficiencies.
  • Overseas the creation of dashboards in Microsoft BI for monthly reporting and analysis, incorporating both crew movements and dollars, to be utilized by Workforce Planning & Strategy team and brands
  • Trains and assist Finance team employees in proper and effective financial budgeting and estimating techniques, including calculation of movements and rate-volume analysis
  • Supervises the month-end variance explanation process by working with the teams in Brazil, Manila and Miami to identify and analyze the main drivers of the variances and identify any opportunities to incorporate those learnings in order to improve the forecast or reporting process going forward.
  • Oversees the development and continuous improvement of complex financial models that are used to for projection and analysis of future crew movements and expenses for forecasting, scenario planning and ad-hoc analysis.
  • Supervises a cross-functional team on creation of new crew travel accrual methodology, including guiding the data mining and analysis in order to prepare a recommendation and a way forward that is SOX compliant and sustainable.
  • Manages G&A forecast, budgeting, and month-end processes for Workforce Planning & Strategy team in Miami, Manila and India, with over 300 FTEs and temps. Estimated budget ~ $13M.
  • Develops and maintains all Workforce Planning & Strategy financial reports and bridges for Shared Services Executive leadership and brand finance, to track financial performance and KPIs, as well as to ensure visibility, transparency and adherence to budget
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • Spearheads crew travel process optimization project to identify efficiencies, streamline processes, and automate activities, resulting in cost savings and overall process improvement.
  • Manages the Workforce Planning & Strategy finance team, which includes two direct reports as well as dotted-line supervision of staff in Brazil and Miami that support accruals, forecasting and reporting.
  • Manages the preparation of annual budget, monthly forecasts and monthly liquidity models for shipboard crew travel expenses, including air cost, hotels, transportation, and crew physicals for all brands, utilizing inputs from teams in Miami, Manila and Brazil. Approximate annual budget ~$175M.
  • Performs ad-hoc analysis as needed, either independently or in conjunction with teams in Manila and Brazil

Required Education & Experience:

  • Master’s degree in business, finance or in a technical field at a minimum
  • Experience modeling complex financial or operational systems
  • 8-10 years related experience
  • Experience operating in a fast-paced, dynamic business environment
  • Strong understanding of business principles
  • Desire to learn and deliver business decision aids to operational leaders
  • Demonstrated ability to apply critical thought to complex problems
  • Advanced experience in financial modeling with Microsoft Excel (Excel Ninja preferred); proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint and Word.
  • Advanced Dashboarding capabilities, using Microsoft BI, Tableau, or other visualization software
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, organization, verbal & written communication skills.
  • Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Must be detail oriented and able to apply critical thought to complex problems in order to identify
  • optimal solutions.
  • Must be able to work under tight timelines, prioritizing responsibilities as needed.
  • Must work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Prior experience with Essbase a plus
