Position Summary:
Studies, analyzes, and seeks solutions to problems related to the design, operation, maintenance, performance, modification, and repair of aircraft, and their components in a wide variety of engineering areas, including systems, and structures. Provide technical support for base maintenance aircraft to ensure timely return to service. This includes designing and developing technical data for aircraft repairs and modifications. Includes performing technical engineering substantiations through complex engineering analysis. This job requires a structured, logical, and analytical approach in problem solving, ensuring serviceability criteria while ensuring safe and legal operations. Analyzes and implements regulatory requirements. Communicates with customers on technical issues, work scope recommendations, and failure investigations. Interfaces with internal and external organizations regarding specific aircraft and component issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical guidance to other engineers and develop substantiate data for aircraft and equipment design / repairs through knowledge of aircraft operational characteristics, materials and processes.
- This position provides technical support for base maintenance aircraft to ensure timely return to service. This includes designing and developing technical data for aircraft repairs and modifications. Includes performing technical engineering substantiations through complex engineering analysis.
- Author and approved repair instructions and procedures Coordinates extensively with other UAL operational groups to ensure airworthiness, safety, regulatory compliance, warranty liaison, operational reliability and efficiency.
Required Education & Experience:
- Successful candidate must have 3-5 years of working experience, designing repairs, and writing repair instructions for aircraft in heavy check maintenance environment. Candidate must be able to provide technical support for base maintenance aircraft by designing and developing technical data and writing repair instructions dispositions for aircraft repairs and modifications.
- Airframe/Powerplant License or E license.
- Effective communication skills
- B.S. Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace), related technical field or equivalent relative work experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as an engineer in aircraft maintenance or similar role. Experience must be providing technical support during maintenance, including repair and modification issues for Structures, Systems, and Interiors. Investigate problems during maintenance and initiate corrective actions to return aircraft to service in a safe, airworthy condition in a timely manner
- Boeing/Airbus Structures I course or industry equivalent. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship.
- Completed Boeing/Airbus Structures courses I, II, and III. Completed Composite training class or industry equivalent and have a working knowledge of structural and composite repairs.
- Ability to interpret complex and technical Engineering and OEM documents and perform technical engineering substantiations through complex engineering analysis by hand and computer software programs. Must have excellent verbal and technical writing skills. Must write clear detailed technical repair instructions for maintenencee . Strong skills in MS office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook MS Teams Powerpoint, etc.).
