Position Summary:
Implement HS&E in the line through guidance, technical support and HS & E leadership. Undertake specialist HS&E duties including custodianship and leadership in accident investigations, methodology, environment monitoring techniques and training). Supervise and direct health, safety and environmental (HS&E) activities within the ADNOC Drilling organisation and covered within the HS & E policies of ADNOC Drilling, and the client to provide professional advice to field staff on all matters pertaining to HS&E management system.
Key Responsibilities:
- Investigate and highlight any significant variances to support effective performance and cost control.
- Identify improvements in internal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency in line with best industry standards in order to define intelligent solutions for issues confronting the function.
- Contribute to the achievement of the approved Performance Objectives for the Function/ Division / Department/ Section in line with the Company Performance framework.
- Supervises assigned personnel engaged in the provision of HS & E services during visits to work locations. Receives reviews and confirms or amends reports submitted and countersigns the same. Coordinates their daily programme indicating areas in which they are to work and ensures that adequate documentation and materials are issued for the task. Guides and provides mentoring for rig based HS & E Engineers (Field Based).
- Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve the quality and efficiency of operational processes.
- Train and develop the assigned staff on relevant skills to enable them to become proficient on the job and deliver the respective business objectives.
- Ensures development of the Health, Safety and Environment Management System (HS & E MS) programme in line with personal experiences in the field and discussions with field-based personnel. Makes suggestions to supervisor relative to adopting procedures that fulfil a real need in the field. This includes advising management on MOC (Methods of Change) in which procedures are put in place prior to any physical changes being made to the rig. Reviews drawings of engineering designs and modifications (such as joints) to ensure compliance with HS & E rules and procedures. Ensures safety measures for such as welding activities.
- Plan, supervise and coordinate all activities in the assigned area to meet functional objectives.
- Provide input for preparation of the Function / Division / Department / Section budgets, assist in the implementation of the approved Budget, and work plans to deliver business objectives.
- Implement approved Function/ Division/ Department/ Section policies, processes, systems, standards and procedures in order to support execution of the work programs in line with Company and International standards.
- Monitors and audits the issue and implementation of the work permit system and drilling activities to ensure adherence to appropriate work procedures and regulations by monitoring documentation on board the rig. Identifies and advises of shortfalls and monitors upon next visit to ensure compliance with such regulations.
Required Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in safety or an Engineering discipline.
- Presentation and leadership skills.
- Microsoft Office Computer skills.
- 8 years’ experience in the field of occupational health, safety and operations.
- Proven English language level., Knowledge of Arabic would be an advantage.
- NEBOSH IGCs.
