We are seeking to appoint a Senior Accountant reporting to the Finance Manager, this exciting opportunity will be based in our Brisbane Head office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate responses to finance related questions from local Business unit, regional and global teams.
- Support finance activities including fixed assets, cash & bank, inventory management, payroll, and indirect tax lodgments (Excise, PAYG, Payroll Tax, GST and FBT).
- Promote and leverage technology tools, dashboards, and other digital accelerators to improve business partnering and enhance insight and transparency
- Drive good decision making through financial analysis and insights
- Collaborate with Finance Shared Services teams (Manila) and other parts of the business to ensure coordination on related accounting processes, and proper recording of transactions, including charge-out across segments
- Custodian for timely and accurate completion of trial balance and management reporting, in line with US GAAP and Chevron Group Policy
- Provide timely counsel to business partners, proactively take ownership to investigate and resolve issues, or recommend a course of action for decision support
- Participate and support reporting requirements, including ABS lodgments, completion of annual Audits and Statutory Accounts with external auditors.
- Support SOX compliance across the business and work with internal audit teams to ensure controls are functioning correctly
Required Education & Experience:
- Ability to listen carefully and to use clear, concise oral and written skills to convey facts, present positions and interpret policies. Ability to effectively interact with colleagues and management, providing clear, logical recommendations in a concise manner to stakeholders
- Ability to manage multiple job responsibilities, set priorities, maintain a high level of accomplishment, and implement process improvements. Ability to handle and/or lead projects and influence others to achieve objectives. Ability to monitor progress and take corrective action if needed to ensure successful and timely delivery or objectives
- Practicing knowledge of accounting policies/procedures (including US GAAP, Australian Accounting Standards, revenue recovery, inventory accounting, lease accounting, fixed assets, tax accounting)
- Degree in accounting, commerce, or business as well as completion of the CPA or CA
- Proficient in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI for data analytics and modelling, ability to design meaningful dashboards and business reports is advantageous
- Experience in leveraging emerging technologies to enhance business processes
- Ability to analyze financial information, uncover variance drivers, provide thoughtful and insightful analysis, and recommend or determine a course of action. Ability to relate financial results to operational events and applicable business models
- Strong commitment to maintaining collaborative and cross-functional working relationships with internal partners and external customers.
- Demonstrated experience in using systems – accounting software (SAP), Oracle Essbase
- Experience with internal controls practices and compliance topics such as Sarbanes-Oxley testing
- Ideally minimum 2 years’ experience from a Big 4 Chartered Accounting environment
