Position Summary:

Key Responsibilities:
- May provide weed abatement or herbicide application.
- Inspects and contacts range users to resolve conflicts or deviations from licensed use.
- Under the supervision/guidance of a higher-level technician or specialists, monitors range land conditions, manages herds of wild horses and burros, processes allotment transfers, supervises range use by permits, and investigates unauthorized use.
- Conducts range surveys and reviews data and transfers information into a computer.
- Helps with improvement projects (wells, reservoirs, fences, vegetation projects, etc.).
Required Education & Experience:
- Applicants must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-4 level. Examples of specialized experience may include assisting with conservation, regulation, and use of public or federally controlled lands for grazing; conduct range research activities; work in the operation of a livestock ranch or perform range/forest fire control, prevention or suppression work.-OR-Education: Successful completion of a full four year (180 quarter or 120 semester hours) course of study leading to a bachelor’s degree (a) with a major forestry, range management, agriculture or a subject-matter field directly related to the position or (b) that included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of the following courses: forestry, agriculture, crop or plant science, range management or conservation, wildlife management, watershed management, soil science, natural resources, outdoor recreation management, civil or forest engineering or wildland fire science. No more than 6 semester hours in mathematics is creditable.
