Quality Engineering Manager – Tesla Application

Position Summary:

Tesla is looking for a highly motivated leader to build world class quality teams, processes, and cars at GigaFactory Texas. You will be responsible for the vehicle quality at the factory, monitoring our manufacturing processes and key quality indicators and driving continuous improvements. The ideal candidate will have a track record of significant achievements, tremendous drive, and a willingness to roll up their sleeves.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Triage and delegate quality issues and responsibilities
  • Lead communication of quality performance, investigations, and corrective actions
  • Lead cross functional teams to drive root cause and corrective action investigations and processes
  • Drive daily improvements to key quality indicators
  • Organize and prioritize work with minimal guidance and manage projects in a timely and effective manner
  • Champion complete factory quality; maintain high quality and manufacturing yield
  • Serve as primary escalation point of contact for quality issues
  • Make quick, sound decisions regarding quality issues with a customer focused mindset

Required Education & Experience:

  • Strong interpersonal skills; Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across all business levels and functions of both internal Manufacturing and Supplier relations
  • Knowledge of quality problem solving methods including, but not limited too, fishbone diagrams, FMEA, process capability analysis, hypothesis testing, DoE, SPC, Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma. Additionally, evidence of the application of these methods to solve complex problems in a manufacturing environment
  • Engineering degree or equivalent experience.
  • Detail oriented, ability to effectively handle multiple priorities, flexibility to reorganize and reschedule work on short notice to meet tight deadlines, have a strong quality mindset, and enjoy working in a team environment.
  • Strong systems thinking skillset, able to connect the dots of critical inputs to deliver a desired output
  • 8 years related manufacturing experience, 3+ years management experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
