Position Summary:

  • We are seeking an experienced purchasing manager to handle our properties related procurement activities. The purchasing manager’s responsibilities include Tracking and supervision of vendor payments.
  • Daily/monthly and annual supervision of vendor databases, Facilitating of contracts including administering, negotiating, reviewing, renewing, filing, and evaluating for availability, price, term, and quality of products.
  • To be successful as a purchasing manager you should be able to coordinate and optimize purchasing activities and processes. An outstanding purchasing manager should have excellent leadership abilities and be able to negotiate the best possible deals with suppliers.
  • Properties related background with national logistical skills will be beneficial.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Vendor cession requests
  • PPE logistics, stock management, ordering & communication
  • Vendor BEE & credit vetting actions
  • Maintenance vehicles fleet management: maintenance services, insurance, petrol card management
  • Formulate and manage cost saving initiatives
  • Vendor stakeholder & relationship management
  • Vendor identification & sourcing
  • Ensure compliance to vendor SLA conditions
  • Implementing & managing OMF compulsory vendor vaccination policy with Properties Vendors
  • Vendor SLA tariff negotiations & price benchmarking
  • Engaging with Finance and Procurement to generate yearly PO’s and generating forecast reports to ensure budget alignments (Raising the risk where there might be overspend).
  • Evaluate suppliers, negotiate contracts, and review the quality of products/services
  • Maintaining the supplier database, purchase records, and related documentation.
  • Preparing cost estimates and managing budgets

Required Education & Experience:

  • Positive and professional demeanour
  • Exceptional interpersonal and social skills to build a good rapport
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong understanding of the market conditions and trends
  • Great team player
  • Working knowledge of negotiation techniques in the industry
  • Prior experience working in the purchasing department in the same industry required – Min 3 years
  • Degree in supply chain management, logistics or business administration
  • Flexible to travel
