Position Summary:

This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, Federal Protective Service, Washington, District of Columbia. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the principle advisor and responsible official to the Assistant Director for Field Operations (ADFO) exercising independent judgment and decision making on all related issues, which supports business operational program matters for the covered regional zonal area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represents the ADFO in coordinating the overall administrative and business processes, providing leadership and direction in the management, control, and evaluation of FPS policies and procedures.
  • Creating business processes to improve the efficiency of technical services provided to others;
  • Recommending polices and procedures designed to accomplish business-related goals; and
  • Evaluating administrative programs to ensure they align with the organization’s mission related goals and objectives;
  • Performing lead duties (i.e. assigning or evaluating work, approving personnel actions, and/or making position management recommendations) to oversee an organization.
  • Provides oversight and direction over several Regional Offices of FPS providing valuable leadership in administrative, program management, and technical services that supports and enhances the business operational processes.
  • Provides policy guidance and decision-making support to regional management and other program officials on funding and budgetary requirements
  • Exercises the full range of supervisory authorities and responsibilities in directing and managing the work of a subordinate staff.
  • Participates in the planning of the mission related business processes that affects the Regional zonal components paying particular attention to human, financial, and physical resource requirements.

Required Education & Experience:

  • You must be a U.S. citizen to apply for this position.
  • You must successfully pass a background investigation. This may include a credit check, a review of financial issues, as well as certain criminal offenses and illegal use or possession of drugs.
  • One-year probationary period may be required.
