Position Summary:
The Plan Examiner will provide technical plans examination on residential and commercial projects ensuring conformance with all adopted codes and ordinances.
Key Responsibilities:
- Meet with design professionals and the development community.
- Maintain established plan review performance standards, residential (3 working days) and commercial (10 working days).
- Prepare technical review comments on residential and commercial plans.
- May be asked to perform other duties as assigned.
- Participate in pre-development meetings and provide professional code assistance and interpretations as well as attend weekly Plan Review Status meetings.
- Actively monitor Infor and/or other department databases to ensure plans are reviewed and processed within the established timeframes.
- Perform plan intake and completeness review on residential and commercial projects.
Required Education & Experience:
- ICC Certification (Residential Plans Examiner and Commercial Building Plans Examiner) required within 12 months of hire.
- Requires an Associates degree
- Minimum of four (4) years of related experience
- A valid driver’s license is required. Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver’s license within 90 days of hire
- A combination of education and pertinent experience may be considered
