Position Summary:

The Plan Examiner will provide technical plans examination on residential and commercial projects ensuring conformance with all adopted codes and ordinances.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meet with design professionals and the development community.
  • Maintain established plan review performance standards, residential (3 working days) and commercial (10 working days).
  • Prepare technical review comments on residential and commercial plans.
  • May be asked to perform other duties as assigned.
  • Participate in pre-development meetings and provide professional code assistance and interpretations as well as attend weekly Plan Review Status meetings.
  • Actively monitor Infor and/or other department databases to ensure plans are reviewed and processed within the established timeframes.
  • Perform plan intake and completeness review on residential and commercial projects.

Required Education & Experience:

  • ICC Certification (Residential Plans Examiner and Commercial Building Plans Examiner) required within 12 months of hire.
  • Requires an Associates degree
  • Minimum of four (4) years of related experience
  • A valid driver’s license is required. Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver’s license within 90 days of hire
  • A combination of education and pertinent experience may be considered
