Job Overview:
The Outage Execution Manager is accountable for managing the project through preparation of detailed plans and coordinating execution of assigned outages.
What you’ll do:
- Manage outage scope additions/deletions using the Scope Review Panel process
- Provide support to the Department Manager in managing the Department in accordance with applicable legislation, policies, programs, procedures, and agreements
- Work closely with the Outage Control Center (OCC) staff to ensure proper oversight of critical outage activities
- Utilize procedure adherence and monitoring compliance to ensure correct and safe practices are followed, and plant reliability and availability are maintained at a high standard
- Ensure that all personnel in the Department are appropriately trained for the tasks delegated to them and have appropriate qualifications and authorizations
- Provide day to day coordination of outage preparation and execution activities
- Monitor and challenge critical path for opportunities and future enhancement of processes and procedures
- Develop relationships with line managers to aid in removing barriers and ensure execution of the schedule as planned
- Report out to Senior Executives regarding outage status, work progress, and challenges
- Ensure that Outage Status Reports are prepared accurately and timely and review the report with the Executives
- Accountability for managing the execution of detailed plans and coordinating execution of assigned outages
- Participate in the Emergency Response Organization as required
- Ownership of the preparation of the assigned outage schedule
- Provide strong leadership during outages to the outage planning team and teams executing work in the outage
- Ensure value for money and achievement of the business plan with the outage being delivered on time and on schedule
- Monitor performance and initiate any actions necessary to correct any adverse trends
What you’ll have:

- Operations background or experience preferred
- Ability to work shifts is considered an asset
- High-level of credibility to influence large groups of professionals and experienced peers
- Prior experience with Maximo and Primavera 6 is an asset
- 4-year university degree in a relevant discipline such as Engineering or Project Management
- 3 + years of experience managing, leading and mentoring staff
- Comfort in working with many individuals at higher levels of the organization
- Minimum 8 years’ experience, up to and including 10 years of experience planning, scheduling or project management of industrial-scale outages (nuclear, power related outage experience preferred)
- In-depth knowledge of the principles of planning, scheduling and project management
- Excellence communication skills – written and verbal
- Previous Duty Outage Manager or Outage Control Centre experience
