Job Overview:

We have an exciting new opportunity to join our team as an Engineering Lead. This role is a newly created position that will have a shared responsibility for the leadership, management and development of a team of approximately 10 Developers. Sitting amongst 3 peers, you will maintain the software engineering process / lifecycle, ensuring compliance with Officeworks Digital Platform standards. You will look to improve efficiency and quality while reducing costs and provide thought leadership that contributes to the strategic direction for the Officeworks Digital Platform. As an Engineering Lead, you will provide software engineering leadership to ensure all agreed CX initiatives are delivered quickly and safely, and have achieved their outlined goals & objectives.

What you’ll have:

  • Software engineering lifecycle and processes
  • Experience but not proficient in Node.js, React, Docker, microservices
  • Several years I.T. experience – primarily with software development exposure
  • Experience working cross functionally at senior levels
  • Passion for driving standards
  • Inherent desire to drive continual improvement by questioning and challenging the status quo
  • Passionate understanding of the importance of customer experience design
  • Agile development processes
  • Ability to influence outcomes and negotiate with stakeholders
  • An innovative, problem solver and lateral thinker with the ability to understand the big picture
  • The ability to facilitate communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Acute understanding of online architecture and the importance of driving the right solutions
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and build effective relationships with a broad and diverse stakeholder group
  • Software engineering specialising in any of the following: Java, JavaScript (Node.js), .Net, Python, PHP
  • Supplemented with experience developing:
    • Web Pages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
    • Web services integration (REST, SOAP)
    • Experience with databases (relational & non-relational)
    • Version control (git)
