Position Summary:
Under the general supervision of a Staff Services Manager I, the Office Technician performs a wide variety of difficult non-supervisory clerical assignments in the Maintenance Hiring Region. The incumbent will work individually, as a team member, and may be oversee the work of others. Will be expected to consistently exercise a high degree of initiative, independence and originality in performing the assigned tasks. Overtime may be required. This position is represented under collective bargaining. Duties include, but are not limited to:
The incumbent will operate a computer in the application of Microsoft Office and Excel programs. The incumbent will copy and/or scan all personnel related documents for processing forms for the hiring process. The Office Technician will schedule interviews.
The incumbent will operate a computer with word processing capabilities while generating various correspondence in technical and non-technical areas consisting of letters, memorandums, forms, reports and charts.
The incumbent will direct incoming and outgoing mail, to and from the District Office and Maintenance Stations. The incumbent will process monthly and overtime payroll. Pick up and distribute travel expense claims and travel advances. The incumbent will be expected to respond during emergency situations and use independent judgment and initiative in handling telephone communications.
Required Education & Experience:
Experience: Two years of experience in typing and clerical work. [Academic education above the twelfth grade may be substituted for one year of the required general experience on the basis of either (a) one year of general education being equivalent to three months of experience; or (b) one year of education of a business or commercial nature being equivalent to six months of experience. Students who are enrolled in the last semester or its equivalent of course work, which upon completion will fulfill these requirements, will be admitted to the examination, but they must submit evidence of completion before they can be considered for appointment.
