Position Summary:

Fire Protection Program engineer is responsible for ownership of the Fleet Fire Protection Program supporting FPL/NextEra nuclear plants.  Responsibilities include familiarity with Regulatory fire protection requirements, NFPA Codes and industry standards. Acts as Subject Matter Expert for Fire Protection program support, including application and compliance of federal, state and industry codes and standards. Performs review of engineering changes that impact the Fire Protection program, prepares Code and/or Regulatory compliance reviews, and maintains program documents. Work will include support of all FPL/NextEra nuclear sites, which requires periodic travel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leads discussions in a group setting to resolve problems or coordinate design production
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
  • Applies nuclear industry standards and regulations to solve new problems and address situations
  • Performs highly complex engineering tasks that require knowledge and experience with nuclear industry standards and regulations
  • Serves as technical liaison within the nuclear business unit

Required Education & Experience:

  • Certified Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Master’s – Engineering
  • Nuclear Experience: 4+ years
  • Experience: 7+ years
  • Bachelor’s – Engineering
  • Engineering or related experience: 7+ years
