Machine Shop Technician – Peloton Internship

Position Summary:

The Peloton Prototype team is looking for a machinist to help us bring ideas to life. This role is based in our Secaucus, NJ Machine Shop and will assist in new product development as well as Quality testing, and reliability projects. The Machine Shop Technician is comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and is a hands-on problem solver with a desire to learn what they don’t already know. All applicants should be able to easily follow instruction, work independently, and think quickly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas
  • Provide technical assistance including: assembling & tearing down equipment, prototypes and mechanical assemblies
  • Operate a manual milling machine and manual lathe. Machine and/or fabricate prototypes and fixturing to tight tolerances based on specifications
  • Communicate technical information through various media including: clear and concise language, short and professional email
  • Adhere to high expectations placed on teamwork along with the ability to work professionally with fellow team members and other departments within Peloton
  • Lift, carry and move projects and equipment
  • Help maintain shop facilities and housekeeping

Required Education & Experience:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with the 3D print process is a plus
  • Ability to maintain equipment and power tools as well as move or shift equipment as necessary
  • Good organizational skills, safe practices and exceptional work habits
  • Have experience with hand tools, power tools and stationary equipment
  • Experience with CNC machining, CAM programming and setup is a plus
  • 3-5 years experience working in a shop environment
  • Basic understanding of mechanical design and dimensioning principles which includes 2D drawings and geometric tolerances
  • Reading 3D CAD and experience with SolidWorks (preferred) or equivalent CAD software
  • MIG and/or TIG welding experiencelications (Word, Excel, etc); experience with Apple products and Salesforce a plus
