Position Summary:
This role provides advanced legal support on Financial Planning and Distribution of Financial Products , as well as providing advanced legal advice. The incumbent is individually accountable for achieving results, over periods from 3 months to a year. Participates in legislation if required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides legal opinions/comments on legislation.
- Manages legal advisors if required.
- Good knowledge of legislation in the financial services industry required
- Assists in the preparation of legal or contractual documents used by the business unit/segment.
- Writes financial planning circulars.
- Assists in shaping and influencing other stakeholders/regulators.
- Presents marketing talks.
- Plans & assigns work over periods of 3 months to a year.
- Conducts or participates in legislation if required.
- Networks with industry bodies.
- Manages performance.
- Guides and directs staff to achieve operational excellence standards.
- Creates a climate for optimal performance.
- Conducts or participates in legislation training if required.
- Conducts training sessions.
- Works on projects.
- Individually accountable for staff time, tasks and output quality, over periods of 3 months to a year.
- Provides advanced legal support on financial planning.
Required Education & Experience:
- Ability to influence and persuade.
- 5 years post qualification experience.
- Fully bilingual (English and Afrikaans).
- Good problem-solving ability and analytical skills.
- Sound judgment and decision-making ability.
- Admitted as an Attorney will be advantageous.
- Advanced knowledge of the legislation relating to financial planning.
- Ability to liaise at all levels.
- Computer literacy.
- Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning (CPF)
- A LLB or B Proc qualification
- Financial Services Industry Experience.
- Well-developed presentation and facilitation skills
- Good client service orientation.
- Sound interpersonal and communication skills.
- Advanced knowledge of retail financial services products.
