Position Summary:

Utilize industrial engineering (IE) technologies and methodologies to evaluate current processes, equipment and systems to determine areas of improvement that will enhance the customer shopping experience, product quality and freshness while eliminating inefficiencies. Provide leadership and collaborate with key stake holders and business partners to design, develop, test and deploy innovative, cost effective and efficient processes. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and participate in the identification, prioritization, implementation, and control of cost reduction and process improvement initiatives using lean processes
  • Provide crucial maintenance support to the labor standards program including process and methods auditing of the stores
  • Develop scope and charter definitions for projects
  • Provide statistical analysis reports evaluating the efficiency of current processes, procedures, equipment and associates
  • Conduct feasibility studies of varied projects to determine the worth of an investment and provide justification for capital appropriations
  • Provide IE support to stores lagging in attainment rates including methods and procedural issues, store profile audits, task requirements, and other areas
  • Identify innovative approaches to company-wide store issues that create opportunities for breakthrough process improvements that positively impact the customer shopping experience, safety, product freshness and food safety.
  • Serve as a liaison to Retail Operations peers, other department leaders and executive leadership
  • Evaluate vendor and supplier proposals for new equipment purchases to ensure increased efficiency and evaluate the equipment’s contribution to cost saving measures
  • Establish work measurement programs and collect and analyze data; develop and maintain key performance indicators and metrics
  • Develop and implement direct labor standards for costing, staffing, and evaluating performance

What you’ll have:

  • Ability to effectively communicate and influence all levels of the organization
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Effective planning, negotiating, decision-making, problem-solving, and organizing skills
  • Able to utilize all work measurement tools available (i.e. MTM, MOST, Time Study, Analysis)
  • 2+ years progressive industrial engineer project work in a complex, integrated retail network
  • Master’s degree in engineering, engineering management, a related field or an MBA
  • Experience in retail operations planning
  • Broad background in industrial engineering technology, application and project management
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to earn Lean/Six Sigma belt certification within one year
  • Extensive process engineering background
  • Ability to work well within project teams
