Position Summary:
The Principal Specialist IT Architecture will take responsibility for one or more domains and will mobilize and lead Core Capability Units and/or Centres of Excellences that support the execution of the domain objectives. The domains include but are not limited to digital channels, digital engineering, modernization of legacy IT applications and infrastructure, and cloud acceleration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Initiating and delivery of key programs to align to the Vodacom target architectures and steer the programs to completion for new technologies and architecture capabilities across Markets.
- Definition of long-term business, data, and IT architecture strategy and roadmap.
- Scout new technologies and vendors to enable innovation and identify technical enablers.
- Provide thought leadership on foundational Digital & IT architecture and domain architecture best practices and disruptive technology trajectory and implications.
- Define and manage architecture vision and roadmap in alignment with the Digital & IT Architecture blueprint from Vodafone Group and the Group IT Architecture domain architecture that can support the Group and Markets deployment of solutions where applicable.
- Develop blueprints and roadmaps with Business and Technology as a key custodian of Vodacom Group Digital & IT Architecture domains.
- Support the Markets in developing and executing RFCs and in the selection of appropriate enabling technology.
- Ensure that all target architectures conform to regulatory, and legal, and adhere to “privacy by design” principles.
- Ensure IT architecture is aligned to business strategy and that all target architectures conform to regulatory, and legal, and adhere to “privacy by design” principles.
- Manage innovation and establish the capability to monitor new technology developments and trends in the industry.
- Oversee and lead the delivery, design, development, and deployment of Digital & IT architecture and domain architecture practices, standards, patterns, and innovations in alignment with Group guidance.
- Liaise with Vodafone and Vodacom Markets to manage the domain architecture portfolio.
What you’ll have:
- Understanding of Digital Engineering standards and patterns e.g. Modern Microservices.
- 8+ years deep technical experience in one or more of the following disciplines Digital Channels, Cloud and Cloud Native Technology,
- Digital Platform Engineering, Software Engineering, IT Architecture design, frameworks and patterns, Integration, Open Digital architecture, and Business Support Systems.
- Competent in cloud-native architectures, including public cloud Paas / IaaS, microservice architectures, and APIs.
- Matric/ Grade 12 is essential.
- Experience with estimation techniques for scaled Agile approaches to the development of key target architectures.
- Practical experience and knowledge of Digital IT Architecture and its application in Financial Services, Digital Services, or Telecommunications.
- 3 Year Bachelor’s degree or National Diploma in Computer Science or Information technology or related field is essential.
- Experience in DevSecOps practices and standards incl. CICD.
