Position Summary:
Successful candidates will be expected to progress through the Pascagoula Formal Maintenance Training Program within 3 years of their hire date to become competent and skilled in all aspects of the I&E craft. This includes but not limited to construction and support of electronic, electrical, and instrument equipment. Instrumentation systems that include 4-20 mA current loops, smart transmitters, thermocouple monitoring systems, vibration monitoring systems, process alarms and controls, programmable logic controllers, foundation field buss, pneumatic instrumentation systems, electrical distribution systems, electrical motor control systems. Experienced candidates have the potential for early completion of the training program (in as little as (15) fifteen months). This will be based on demonstrated competency witnessed and approved by the Team Leader and a formal test out process. Trainees who successfully test out will receive pay increases that reflect these advanced steps as they progress through the training program. Both written and hands on skill assessments are required to progress through the advanced training. All candidates will be required to successfully demonstrate the ability to climb heights up to 200 feet and satisfy confined space entry testing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Working with other functional departments such as Reliability, Operations, and Engineering on a daily basis.
- Successful candidates will typically work a 4×10 dayshift work schedule. Typical shifts are Monday – Thursday but can vary based on business needs. Shift work and overtime are often required. The position can also be called out after normal work hours as needed.
- Work associated with this position typically involves working outdoors year-round.
- Performing a variety of field and shop work on electrical and instrument maintenance, project and construction assignments. This includes installing cable tray, conduits, and wire pulling.
- Following routine duties, safe work practices and demonstrating safe work behaviors.
- Installing, troubleshooting, and supporting electronic, electrical, and instrument equipment and systems that include 4-20 mA current loops, smart transmitters, thermocouple monitoring systems, vibration monitoring systems, process alarms and controls, programmable logic controllers, foundation field buss, pneumatic instrumentation systems, electrical distribution systems, and electrical motor control systems.
- Organizing, planning, and executing daily work assignments.
- Performing other incidental craft work, e.g., fabrication, machinery, etc. to complete job.
Required Education & Experience:
- Must have valid TWIC card or the ability to obtain a TWIC card
- Minimum 5 years industrial experience in the instrumentation and/or electrical field.
- A valid Driver’s License
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Industrial HVAC experience such as centrifugal chillers, process cooling, building automation systems, or package DX units.
- 2 years’ work experience (military service is considered work experience) or completed an accredited trade/vocational program.
- Successful completion of an Internship at the Chevron Pascagoula Refinery as an Instrument & Electrical Intern or formalized apprenticeship training program.
- Relevant instrumentation or electrical trade school endorsed by the Central Gulf Industrial Alliance (CGIA), military or formalized training program graduate.
