In this position, you will serve as an IT Specialist (Policy & Planning) responsible for developing strategic and capital planning, investment control, workforce planning, policy development and auditing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Customer Service – Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
  • Communicating to a team or working group the assignments, projects and milestones for application of appropriate problem- solving methods and techniques.
  • Reviewing and evaluating IT programs and mission objectives to assess and document staffing resources and training requirements.
  • Conducting budget analysis and preparing documentation for IT investment portfolios.
  • Developing, monitoring and analyzing metrics for IT program performance OR;
  • Reviewing and monitoring IT policy changes and/or legislative requirements for potential impact on organizational policies OR;
  • Oral Communication – Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
  • Interpreting and drafting IT policies and plans and preparing responses on procedural changes, documents, and proposals.
  • Developing and maintaining strategic plans, and assessing policy guidance to IT management, staff and customers.
  • Evaluating IT System and support records to develop and document spend plans, budgets and executive business cases.
  • Attention to Detail – Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
  • Current federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements.
  • You must successfully pass a background investigation.
  • 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree
  • You must be a U.S. citizen to apply for this position.
  • You must be able to obtain and maintain a Government credit card.
  • Selective Service registration required.
