Job Overview:

A Sales Manager with the Hampton and Homewood Suites Calgary Complex is responsible for the development of market segment(s) and solicitation of new customer relationships and accounts while maintaining existing relationships with current accounts. This position works within the Sales & Marketing team and will be responsible for meeting revenue goals and specific sales targets while maintaining exceptional service.

What you’ll do:

  • Attend weekly sales departmental meeting and other scheduled meetings to support business operations, e.g., tentative review, lost business review, group-pick up, etc.
  • Participate in the development, implementation and achievement of the annual business and market plan objectives.
  • Conduct site inspections with potential customers
  • Ensure effective utilization of Profit Pack and other utilized Selective Selling guidelines to maximize revenue contribution from all segments.
  • Attend tradeshows and sales trips as assigned
  • Contribute and implement strategic and tactical plans to achieve business plan objectives for all market segments of the hotel including group, transient, and permanent.
  • Conduct account and market research and use to develop strategies to grow market share in specific segment.
  • Lead the sales process via customer meetings, entertainment and attendance at client and other relevant industry events.
  • Prepare proposals and/or contracts to advise prospective customers primarily of the hotel guest rooms, but also meeting space and/or banquet date, space and rate availability. Calculate and quote prices for same.

  • 2 years prior sales experience
  • Excellent selling capabilities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a full understanding of professional ethics, decorum and social skills required for extensive interaction with customers, investment owners and business partners
  • Motivated and have the ability to work well independently and within a team
  • Ability to perform critical analysis
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well under time pressure
