Job Overview:

In your role as Accounting Officer, you will form part of the Hilton Accounting & Finance Services (HAFS) team for Australia dedicated to the delivery of timely and accurate transactional accounting tasks for multiple hotel or corporate entities. The position requires strong technical proficiency in at least two accounting functions of accounts payable, accounts receivable and/or general ledger and hands on adeptness of accounting fundamentals such as month end activities, balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis. This position is also the back up for RTR Accountant and/or the Accounting Manager in the Central Finance office, relieving and assisting as required.

What you’ll do:

  • Manage accounting queries and dispute resolution
  • Perform the required transactional accounting tasks accurately and within required deadlines. This predominantly involves payroll accounting but may include other complex accounting tasks such as GST calculation
  • Undertake reviews and support team members in the Shared Service Centre
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliation activities
  • Execute on tasks/requests as instructed by the Accounting Manager, Finance Manager and/or Director of Finance
  • Ability to grasp accounting concepts and procedures well as well as an understanding of compliance matters such as SOX, statutory and company policy requirements.
  • Build accurate financial reports and identify clearly any discrepancies
  • Participate in end of month close activities which includes journal preparation, variance analysis and adjustments
  • Agility to carry out multi-discipline tasks from receivables, payables and general ledger
  • Act in accordance with fire, health and safety regulations and follow the correct procedures when required

What you’ll have:

  • Proficiency, at an intermediate to advanced level, with computers and computer programs, including Microsoft programs (Excel and Word), Property Management Systems and Point of Sales Systems
  • Relevant degree, in Accounting or related business discipline, from an academic institution
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships with internal and external customers
  • Previous Accounts experience within a hotel environment
  • Previous experience in a high volume General Ledger function. Experience in at least 1 other account function advantageous.
  • High-level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Experience with Navision highly regarded
  • Excellent time management and organisation skills
