Position Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and experienced leader to provide senior leadership to both the Technical and Operational Delivery Teams and drive successful delivery of a planned reform programme to achieve business priorities through a significant period of change over the next two years. This includes full operational delivery of the remedy to the McCloud judgment and amendments to the Fee-Paid Judicial Pension Scheme in light of the O’Brien and Miller judgments.
Delivery of all aspects of the Judicial Pensions Reform Programme and ongoing provision of high-quality pension services to the judiciary is crucial if we are to tackle judicial recruitment and retention issues, support court recovery and the strategic objective of delivering swift access to justice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide effective and inspiring senior leadership to two Grade 7-led teams, building a high-performance and collaborative culture.
  • Lead your teams to work closely with internal stakeholders and suppliers to develop, agree and execute plans to operationally deliver key aspects of the Judicial Pensions Reform Programme including an options exercise for judges affected by the McCloud judgment and amendments to the Fee-Paid Judicial Pension Scheme in light of the O’Brien and Miller judgments.
  • Build pensions capability and knowledge across own teams and wider Pensions Operations Team over time, ensuring that effective knowledge transfer processes are in place.
  • Ensure provision of expert technical advice to Policy and Pensions Operations Colleagues on specific cases and aspects of the judicial pension schemes.

  • A highly effective leader who is visible and approachable to all colleagues and stakeholders and can motivate and inspire staff from all backgrounds to deliver their best.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to forge effective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Comfortable and confident working in a project management environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to translate complex and technical issues for a variety of audiences.
  • Experience and understanding of defined benefit pension schemes and/or operational delivery of complex policy reforms.
