Position Summary:
This position is being announced under FEMA’s Cadre of On-call Response/Recovery Employee (CORE) Program. This is a temporary appointment in the Excepted Service, not to exceed 2 years, with the option to extend based on workload and funding availability. Veterans Preference does not apply to the CORE selection process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpreting or applying laws, regulations, or policies related to grant management operations;
- Assisting with project management or grant management tasks, processes, and procedures;
- Coordinating and communicating project needs and status reports to internal and/or external partners; and
- Performing tasks related to the closeout of grants; and
- Reviewing and evaluating the adequacy of grants applications, policies, procedures, and practices.
- Applying knowledge of grant management systems.
- Advising on or performing functions such as awarding and administering grants.
- Reviewing cooperative agreements or other grant management documents.
- Serving as a liaison between FEMA and grants recipients.
- Providing technical assistance to stakeholders on process improvements and tasks related to the grant management systems.
Required Education & Experience:
- You qualify for this position at the IC-12 level if you possess the following: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (IC-11) in the Federal Service. This experience may have been gained in the federal government, a state or local government, a non-profit organization, the private sector, or as a volunteer; however, your resume must clearly describe at least one year of specialized experience.
- You must be able to obtain and maintain a Government credit card.
- Travel will be required.
- You must successfully pass a background investigation.
- You qualify for this position at the IC-11 level if you possess the following: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (IC-09) in the Federal Service. This experience may have been gained in the federal government, a state or local government, a non-profit organization, the private sector, or as a volunteer; however, your resume must clearly describe at least one year of specialized experience.
- Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
- 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M
- You must be a U.S. citizen to be considered for this position.
- You qualify for this position at the IC-09 level if you possess the following: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (IC-07) in the Federal Service.
