Position Summary:

As a State and Local Tax (SALT) Paraprofessional, you will play a key role in supporting a team of SALT professionals and assist with administrative support and project management. The ideal candidate is a well-rounded, performer with strong communication, organization and analytical abilities. You should be an independent, solution-oriented performer who is skilled and experienced in a supporting administrative function.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Aptitude to follow firm standards and apply them accordingly.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with engagement team members at various levels.
  • Provide assistance in resolving tax related queries.
  • Work effectively, manage time, meet deadlines, and work under pressure.
  • Prepare or assist in tax compliance processing for simple to complex US property tax returns, assessments and tax bills in conjunction with staff and management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Assist in processing mail in our Downers Grove office to facilitate work for internal staff and remote offices, including daily assistance with: Incoming mail – opening and sorting, scanning and routing, and archiving; and Outgoing mail – assistance with printing, assembly, and postage.
  • Interact with internal and external clients, including correspondence via email and phone calls.
  • Data entry and processing responsibilities with OCR software and property tax admin systems.

Required Education & Experience:

  • A process improvement and knowledge-sharing mindset.
  • Ability to work additional hours as needed.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelors’ degree preferred.
  • Ability to take initiative, be self-directed and results-oriented.
  • Aptitude for learning technology (proprietary tools).
  • Advanced skill level with Microsoft applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments.
  • Treats sensitive or confidential information with appropriate discretion.
  • Critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Five to seven years of administrative support experience in a corporate or professional services environment.
  • Strong written and verbal English language communication skills..
