Position Summary:
Utility Technician Line Locators are responsible for the timely response to line locate requests issued from the One Call Center and assigned through Ticket Management System.
Key Responsibilities:
- Occasionally having to dig to locate valve boxes or lead wires covered by dirt and debris in order to locate pipeline.
- Document and record essential information related to locating the City’s pipelines.
- Meet with contractors, City Work crews, builders, developers and the general public as necessary to discuss the location of City’s pipelines.
- Research as-built drawings, map books, and GIS maps to verify pipeline locations in the field.
- Locate and mark underground City pipelines with the use of dual frequency detection devices, probe rods and metal detectors.
- May be asked to perform other duties as assigned
- Identify areas of high excavation activity, maintain markings, inspect for unreported damages or threats to City facility.
- Perform clerical tasks such as completed required forms used to document work orders, vehicles inspections and Meet sheets in accordance with Department procedures and/or regulatory requirements.
Required Education & Experience:
- Requires High School Diploma or GED
- A valid driver’s license is required. Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver license within 90 days of hire
- Minimum of five (5) years of related experience
