Position Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts fuels management inventories and monitoring to document presence, amount, and types of hazardous fuels.
  • Participates in preparedness reviews, proficiency checks and drills, safety sessions, and after action reviews.
  • Participate in planning, implementing and coordinating all aspects of a fuels management program.
  • Participates in the implementation of prescribed fire operations.
  • Provide technical assistance in program direction, budgeting, fuels management and prescribed fire programs.
  • Review project plans and make recommendations for monitoring activities.
  • Create, update and use fire modeling software to assist in treatment recommendations.
  • Plan, conduct surveys and evaluate data to develop treatment prescriptions.
  • Develop and recommend plans for prescribed fire, wildland fire and fuels treatment projects.

Required Education & Experience:

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Background Investigation Required.
  • For GS-08/09: 36 semester hours (2 years) of graduate education which is DIRECTLY related to work of the position OR an equivalent combination of specialized experience and education.
  • You must pass a pre-employment physical.
  • You cannot hold an active real estate license; nor can you have an interest or hold stocks in firms with interest in Federal Land.
