Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance on required equipment repairs to meet both corporate and code requirements.
  • Maintain inspection data, master equipment list, records, and recommendations in computer-based reliability data management applications (i.e. Meridium).
  • Participate in design reviews for new construction and equipment to ensure it meets company and code requirements as well as Design for Reliability factors.
  • Plan, coordinate and perform required internal and external compliance inspections for tanks, vessels, columns, and piping at code and jurisdictional mandated intervals.
  • Serve as a member of the Fixed Equipment Inspection Group at the Chevron El Segundo, California Refinery. This team provides inspection services to all process Plants and off plot facilities in the refinery.
  • Intermittent travel with possible nights and weekend work hours based on refinery needs.
  • Report to the Fixed Equipment Inspection Team Lead at the refinery.
  • Ensure the safe and reliable operating condition of fixed equipment through scheduled inspections and guidance on high quality repairs that meet corporate and code requirements.
  • Implement and maintain equipment reliability plans and a risk-based inspection (RBI) methodology for assigned area. Provide updates to both when process conditions dictate, or inspection related updates are needed.
  • Participate in shutdown inspection scope planning. During turnarounds, manage inspection requirements such as internal inspections, defining required repairs, and NDE scheduling and validation.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Knowledge of basic welding applications.
  • Knowledge of refinery corrosion mechanisms.
  • Basic knowledge of refinery process unit operations.
  • 3 years of experience in refinery inspection with API certification (API 510, 570, etc.), multiple certifications preferred.
  • Knowledge of fixed equipment design and maintenance practices in processing facilities.
  • Experience working in an IDMS (Inspection Data Management System) database.
  • Demonstrated strong computer skills related to maintaining Inspection Database and analyzing CM data.
  • Experience performing on-stream & shutdown inspections of refinery equipment and piping.
  • ASNT TC-1A Level II Non-Destructive Examination Ultrasonic Thickness, Magnetic Particle Testing, Penetrant Testing, and
  • Radiographic Testing certification, not required but preferred.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license with a safety record.
  • Knowledge of basic metallurgy.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in all media and at all levels of the organization.
  • Knowledge of fixed equipment inspection requirements and practices, non-destructive examination technologies and interpretation and analysis of inspection data.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
