Position Summary:
This position will provide support to the Global Automotive Engine Oils Team supporting field testing of passenger car, heavy duty and mobile natural gas lubricants. Candidate must maintain a high degree of independence and responsibility, reliability and accountability. The candidate is responsible for engine oil field test projects implementation, including identifying, managing and maintaining close relationships with test fleets. Generate field test plan, analyze and evaluate fresh and used oil data, conduct engine parts ratings, and issue test reports. Candidate must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with senior chemists/engineers in the Automotive Engine Oils Team to maximize productivity by applying technical skills and experience routinely and by drawing on knowledge and skills of other experienced personnel. This is a safety sensitive position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement field tests projects, analysis and evaluate fresh and used oil data, conduct professional parts ratings, and prepares reports.
- Proactive in communicating updates across organization
- Generate field test plan according to the business requestor’s need including identifying different test conditions and engine/fleet type and hardware, to gain insights for product development, customer marketing support for differentiation, for the new and existing formulations.
- Independently manages field testing including the lab test results, sample flows, blend checks and activities for successful field test
- Manages data analysis to increase efficiency, insight, and business value
- Coordinates with other regions for efficiency and alignment
- Compiles customized data for sales and customer presentation and formulation development insights
- Make presentations to PC and HD OEMs and customers to support marketing of the AEO technology with the field test data
- Independently search and identifies the various field test sites that meets the objectives of the field test programs to support research/development and customers
- Retrieve, collect, and compile data into initial recommendation that enable ready analysis and interpretation by the formulators, customer technical services, and marketing.
- Performs data analysis for full multi-year field test programs, and preforms telematics, engine rating and engine inspections / photography of the hardware part
- Diagnostics hardware issues, oil performance issues, and draw conclusions on oil formulation performance, communicates findings orally and in writing.
- Work with field test peers in other country and regions (China, Europe, and Japan), attend meeting and share experiences, optimize field test process. Collaborate with field test stakeholders, formulators, and scientists.
Required Education & Experience:
- Demonstrated organizational and communication skills, including preparing technical reports and presentations of scientific data.
- Background in automotive engineering, chemistry and/or mechanical engineering
- Familiar with lubrication theories and concepts
- B.S. in Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, or Automotive disciplines
- Willingness to travel up to 25%
- Proven ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
- Familiar with engine operation and parts, diesel and gasoline
- Demonstrated safety behaviors.
- Minimum 3 years of automotive or analytical laboratory experience and accuracy in data analytics and reporting data.
- Demonstrated track record of high performance and multi-tasking behaviors.
- Proven experience working within a team environment and draw on knowledge and skills of other research engineers/chemists.
