District Vehicle Maintenance Specialist – Fed Ex Hiring

Position Summary:

Oversees the garage vendors throughout the FedEx Ground (FXG) System. Implements FXG policy regarding preventative maintenance procedures, company policies and cost controls. Manages all aspects of the vehicle maintenance of company owned equipment including, but not limited to, vehicle specifications, cost analysis/management, warranty and fleet management. Works with station management to ensure Department of Transportation (DOT) compliance needs are met. Supports field/ district operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitors and inspects work in progress and at completion to ensure quality and safety standards are maintained.
  • Monitors, audits and inspects completed preventative maintenance inspections (PM’s) and repairs of equipment to ensure deadlines are met, quality of repairs meet standards, and repairs are consistent.
  • Monitors Business Controls Self Audit (BCSA) compliance and assists in process development.
  • Ensures Occupational Safety Health Administration (OSHA) and Environmental Protection agency (EPA) regulations are adhered to by garage vendors.
  • Monitors maintenance vendor compliance with federal regulations and ensures disposals documented and are completed within HazMat guidelines.
  • Reviews and authorizes repairs for company-owned equipment.
  • Works with vendors to discuss services, obtain pricing, discuss alternatives for cost reductions and maintain cooperative relationships and assists in selection of vendors.
  • Ensures company policies regarding operational and safety issues are adhered to.
  • Monitors and manages maintenance costs pertaining to purchasing, inventory control and outsourcing of repairs.
  • Monitors inspections of company-owned and approved equipment to ensure adherence to DOT regulations and company appearance standards.

What you’ll have:

  • Ability to develop effective methods for tracking and monitoring data or information.
  • Demonstrated experience with fleet business practices and both power and trailer maintenance industry procedures.
  • Verbal and written communication skills necessary to explain complex and/or confidential information.
  • High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Safety or related field preferred.
  • Presentation skills necessary to facilitate training and/or deliver informational sessions to groups and/or individuals.
  • Software skills, including use of Microsoft Office software and web-based applications.
  • Ability to anticipate and identify problems and use sound judgment and fact-based analysis to develop effective and efficient solutions.
  • Time management and organizational skills necessary to manage multiple projects, appropriately prioritize workload, plan for resources to meet deadlines and goals, and respond to functional needs.
