Position Summary:
As a Facilities Utility Specialist you will work in a fast-paced Facilities Maintenance Operations department. The Facilities Utility Specialist plays a very important role in providing quality service to our internal customers. The Facilities Utility Specialist performs work in accordance with guidelines established in the collective bargaining agreement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Performing routine maintenance tasks of a general nature, such as servicing, cleaning and transporting equipment as well as cutting, sizing, and forming materials
- Facilities Utility Specialist must be able to work around the clock shifts, including weekends and holidays, in the outdoors in all weather conditions
- Facilities Utility Specialist are represented by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT)
- Schedules are bid and awarded according to seniority
- Shift differentials are paid for working an afternoon or evening shift respectively as outlined in the collective bargaining agreement
- Assisting Technicians with work as requested
- New employees are required to join the union within ninety (90) days of employment
- Assisting in the operation of the airline baggage system including and not limited to monitoring, managing and clearing of baggage related jams and operational support of the baggage handling systems
- Salary increases will be administered according to the current IBT/United contract
- Surface treatment of facility component parts with chemicals and sandblasting equipment
- Supporting the department through the transportation, inventory and accounting of parts and components needed to complete tasks
- There is an initiation fee for joining the union and subsequent monthly union dues
- Identifying and checking tools, test equipment and certain commodities in and out of the warehouse, as well as the service, cleaning, inventory storage and accounting of tools, test equipment and commodities used in the daily operation
- General shop and housekeeping responsibilities as related to storage, break, and work area cleanliness
Required Education & Experience:
- Ability to climb and work from ladders, and/or walk for extended periods
- Must have a high school diploma/GED or education equivalent or a certification from an accredited trade school
- Must possess valid state issued Driver’s License
- Employees may bid for schedules several times a year and schedules are awarded according to seniority
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
- Ability to work any shift assigned (nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed) within 24/7 operation
