Position Summary:
In this position, you will serve as a Supervisor for the Climate Research and Nature-Based Solutions Team
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing leadership, direction and coordinating of hazard mitigation/climate adaptation activities AND;
- Leading a team and managing the work of subordinates on mitigation activities through coaching and performance management.
- Providing leadership, strategic visioning and direction setting; management, oversight, and hiring of staff; procure contract support; coordinate with hazard mitigation / climate adaption programs, the Climate Executive Steering Group and staff, and others outside of Mitigation; and provide executive level briefings.
- Recommending and implementing hazard mitigation/climate adaptation guidance for technical assistance to stakeholders AND;
- Serving as an expert and functional proponent in hazard mitigation / climate adaption providing advice and guidance on national and regionalized delivery of climate research and nature-based solutions (NBS) in support of hazard mitigation programs.
- Serving as internal FEMA liaison (FEMA Climate Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG), FEMA Administrator’s Office, etc.) on climate and NBS matters.
- Reviewing, analyzing and advocating for hazard mitigation / climate adaptation activities that reduce risk to communities such as: adopting / enforcing the latest building codes and standards that support hazard-resistant construction, flood-proofing requirements, and adopting zoning ordinances that steer development away from high-risk areas for flooding, storm surge, wildfire or coastal erosion, etc.
- Supporting specific climate adaptation research activities related to Mitigation programs, policies, and business.
Required Education & Experience:
- You must be able to obtain and maintain a Government credit card.
- Selective Service registration required.
- You must be a U.S. citizen to apply for this position.

- Combination of education and experience-education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
