Position Summary:

In this position, you will serve as an Emergency Management Specialist (Mitigation) supporting Region One with the delivery of mitigations programs and services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting risk analysis and administering programs and plans impacting the delivery of mitigation programs and services.
  • Developing presentations, reports, and technical materials in relation to hazard mitigation programs; and,
  • Writing, reviewing, and interpreting hazard mitigation laws, regulations and policies applicable to FEMA.
  • Developing presentations, reports, and technical materials in relation to hazard mitigation programs.
  • Applying laws, regulations, and policies related to disaster management operations;
  • Providing technical advice and guidance on the delivery of disaster mitigation programs and services.
  • Providing technical assistance on mitigation programs and/or construction projects.
  • Coordinating and supporting the implementation of mitigation programs.

Required Education & Experience:

  • Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
  • You must be able to obtain and maintain a Government credit card.
  • 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
  • You must be a U.S. citizen to be considered for this position.
  • You must successfully pass a background investigation.
  • You qualify for this position at the IC-11 level (starting salary $74,129) if you possess the following: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (IC-09) in the Federal Service. This experience may have been gained in the federal government, a state or local government, a non-profit organization, the private sector, or as a voluntee
  • Travel will be required.
  • You qualify for this position at the IC-12 level (starting salary $88,850) if you possess the following: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (IC-11) in the Federal Service. This experience may have been gained in the federal government, a state or local government, a non-profit organization, the private sector, or as a volunteer
