Position Summary:
In this position, you will serve as an Emergency Management Specialist (Response) within the Operational Planning Branch tasked to manage and coordinate all Federal emergency management response operations and response planning and integration of Federal, State, local, tribal, territorial, nongovernmental organizations, and private sector disaster program related to climate change and equity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting analysis of complex survivor-centric aid and assistance issues.
- Providing expert advice on the complex response issues related to climate change and equity to high-ranking and professional FEMA staff in the headquarters and in the regions, along with other stakeholders.
- Preparing, overseeing, and/or contributing to the preparation of periodic budget status reports.
- Managing and directing regional responses for delivery of immediate response operations during an event, incident, or disaster.
- Developing detailed emergency operations plans (CONPLANs and OPLANs) and procedures and analyzing existing plans.
- Serving a senior level advisor to regional response staff and leadership concerning policy issues dealing with immediate response to disasters.
- Conveying technical aspects of agency programs to subject matter experts and/or stakeholders;
- Providing and coordinating emergency response and preparedness training, exercises, and assistance.
- Coordinating emergency management response planning efforts for Federal, State, local, tribal, territories, non-governmental organizations, and/or the private sector;
Required Education & Experience:
- Current federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements.
- You qualify for this position at the GS-13 level (starting salary $105,654) if you possess the following: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-12) in the Federal Service. This experience may have been gained in the federal government, a state or local government, a non-profit organization, the private sector, or as a volunteer; however, your resume must clearly describe at least one year of specialized experience.
