Position Summary:
You will serve as a Supervisory Electronics Engineer specializing in Avionics and Electrical Systems in the Avionics Branch, an organizational element of the Research and Engineering Directorate at Glenn Research Center (GRC).
Key Responsibilities:
- Performs human resources management including selection of employees; assignment of duties; evaluation of employee performance; planning of employee training; and recommendation of awards, promotions, discipline and adverse actions.
- Serves as the Discipline Lead Engineer (DLE) for avionics work at the center, representing or delegating responsibility for the discipline at project reviews when requested by projects.
- Assumes responsibility for all aspects of planning, coordinating, and evaluating the work of the Branch.
- Formulates, prepares, and defends budget and manpower requests to ensure that future objectives of the organization can be obtained within allocated resources.
- Assigns work and monitors technical work requirements and milestones; evaluates the organization and employee accomplishments and presents and defends organization and employees work to senior management and other offices.
- Duties described below are at the full-performance level. Duties assigned at a lower grade level will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity; duties will be commensurate with the grade of selected employee.
Required Education & Experience:
To qualify at the GS-14 level, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level:
- Developing Avionics, Electronic Instrumentation and/or Electrical Systems for aerospace or aviation projects;
- Assigning work and monitoring technical work requirements and milestones; and
- Analyzing performance requirements such as safety engineering or quality assurance for Electronic Instrumentation Systems.
To qualify at the GS-15 level, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level:
- Leading a diverse team in the development of Avionics, Electronic Instrumentation and/or Electrical Systems for aerospace or aviation projects;
- Formulating and defending budget and staffing requests in support of aerospace or aviation projects; and
- Presenting the status of Electronic Instrumentation Systems to senior management and other organizations.
