Position Summary:
Instacart helps retailers build and grow thriving ecommerce businesses. We provide services and advanced technologies to retailers across their websites and apps to help them monetize their content and improve the customer experience through more relevant ads. As a result, retailers are more profitable, and customers lean into grocery e-commerce.
We are hiring a Director, Retail Media to help extend Instacart’s technology and talent, so our retail partners can start or expand their advertising businesses. You will be responsible for ensuring these efforts are prioritized, planned out and resourced appropriately. You will also be responsible for executing on our strategy — working with retailers and evolving our sales and product strategies to support a growing retail media network.
Key Responsibilities:
- Help Instacart meet or exceed our annual advertising revenue goals
- Lead definition, management, and execution of Instacart’s retail media operating plan. Build new teams over time to deepen our capabilities and retailer engagement.
- Develop prioritization, processes and metrics for handling new advertising demand and onboarding of suppliers as advertisers. Build pipeline of ad adoption by retail partners, deliver on launch deadlines, and manage testing of new capabilities.
- Own overall execution of advertising rollouts and long-term optimization across retail partners.
- Applying business performance goals, account management, and technical integration to drive retail media success for Instacart and our retail partners.
- Provide support and build trusted relationships with the stakeholders across major retailers’ organizations, sharing expertise in advertising to enable their success. Coordinate heavily with
- Instacart account management and customer success teams.
- Manage the cadence of cross-functional execution with product, retailer business development, business operations, and enterprise technology-integration teams.
Required Education & Experience:
- Experience building and managing teams with outsized company impact; ability to create a development and growth culture of high engagement and high performance
- Ability to reconcile multiple senior stakeholders’ views to drive business results; works with senior management to set goals and then partners with directors and sr. managers to turn those goals into operational objectives, playbooks and results
- Track record of developing strategic business cases and executing cross-functional projects from proposal to implementation, including the creation of new processes and evaluation criteria
- Strong sense of business judgment and decision making with partial data
- 10+ years experience in retail and/or advertising operations, with a combination of account management, digital advertising sales, and e-commerce
